Dr. Richard Hammill (left), president of Andrews University, presents Dr. Edward C. Banks with a plaque from the university honoring him for his educational work in the area of evangelism. Banks started the first field school of evangelism in 1948 in order that ministerial students might gain some experience in public evangelism before beginning their own ministries. The 135 field schools Banks has conducted for the Andrews University Theological Seminary, in which 1,250 students have taken part, have resulted in the baptism of 10,000 persons.
