Robert M. Johnston took Korean Union College students on an evangelistic trip to Sorak Mountain. Professor Cho went along and helped chaperone. He was a highly respected Korean language teacher, and the Johnstons felt honored that he chose their Korean names for them, Chang Su Ton and Chang Mi Do.
