cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee. Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel “ Isaiah 44:22-23. The wonderful transformation that the blotting out of sins will accomplish in the final generation is depicted in Isaiah 4:2-5. “In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zi- on, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burn- ing. And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shin- ing of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence. Other passages in Inspiration speak of the complete eradi- cation of the memory of past sins. “ Those who have delayed a prep- aration for the day of God cannot obtain it in the time of trouble, or at any future period. The righteous will not cease their earnest agonizing cries for deliverance. They cannot bring to mind any particular sins, but in their whole life they can see but little good. Their sins had gone beforehand to judgment, and pardon had been written. Their sins had been borne away into the land of forgetfulness, and they could not bring them to remembrance “ 35G p. 134. “ Their sins have gone beforehand to judgment and have been blotted out, and they cannot bring them to remembrance “ GC p. 620. We should note that those whose sins have been blotted out cannot bring them to remembrance. It is not that they choose not to remember them, but they cannot, so completely have they 18 perfect in the Bible were not sinless as Adam before the fall or as Christ was in His humanity. HOW WILL SINLESS PERFECTION BE ATTAINED? If none of the saints in the Bible had attained to sinless per- fection, how will the final generation ever attain to it? Will it be through diligent, daily sanctification? There are many sincere people who think that when through daily sanctification they come to the point where they have ceased to sin, they will have attained to sinless perfection. However, they do not realize that ceasing to sin is not sinless perfection. The apostle John was not holding on to any sin, yet he wrote “ If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves. “ If God’s people never committed another sin for the rest of their lives, they would still have a corrupt human channel, a filthy garment that defiles even their best deeds. They would still need an intercessor in the heavenly sanctuary. There also are those who are convinced that we need the latter rain in order to perfect our characters so that they will re- flect the image of Jesus perfectly. And that is true according to Inspiration. Consequently, we have had numerous calls to en- gage in days of prayer for the latter rain to be bestowed. But thus far there has been no latter rain poured out. And many are wondering why the Lord hasn't answered their prayers when it tells us to pray for the latter rain. See Zechariah 10:1 & TM p. 506. Christ cannot bestow the latter rain upon His people until the soul temple is cleansed from all defilement. As long as His people are encumbered with the corrupt human channel, as long as they are clothed with the filthy garments of past sins, the mighty power of the latter rain would consume them. We read of such righteous men as Job and Isaiah and Daniel and how they reacted when the divine presence drew near them. Job ex- 11
