A new planer has been added to the shop
equipment, and those who have scen it oper-
ate agree that it materially speeds up pro-
duction and at the same time does much bet-
ter work than did the old machine. The shop
crew has been kept busy on ironing boards,
ladders, and trellis work for some time.
We are glad to see Professor lease about
again after his long illness. He is having to
take things easy for a few days, however.
Poor English came in for considerable un-
favorable mention last week by the English
department. The chapel periods were given
over to a series of programs emphasizing the
importance of purity of speech. Between
times, bead collecting occupied considerable
time and attention. Miss Coupee won in this
part. of the Good English Week program,
having collected something more than eighty
beads, each representing an error of speech
on the part of some Juckless fellow-student.

We were pleased to have John Combden
as a caller over last week-end.
Using as a basis for his remarks, defini-
tions of a Christian life as given hy several
of the teachers and students, Professor Terry
conducted the Friday evening devotional
service. Particular emphasis was placed
upon the necessity of living in our daily lives
the truth.
With the organization of the Junior Class
a few days ago, the interests of a number of
the students are beginning to focus on the
last few days of the school term. And they
are not so very far away, either,—aonly five
more weeks.
“It was a splendid meeting: the speakers
handling the important subject of ‘Faith’ in
a very interesting way.” Such was one sum-
mary of last Sabbath’s M, V. meeting.
A “man-power” four-gallon ice cream
freezer has been added to the dairy equip-
ment. rom now on, the plan is to eat some
of the cream as well as drink the milk.
The Colporteur Work
With Our Colporteurs
No doubt the question has arisen in your
minds as to whether books can really be sold
these days or not, and I want to tell our
MESSENGER readers a few of the experiences
which come to us while selling books in the
last few weeks.
It was my privilege to meet Brother Gal-
odey in Montreal and go with him to Hudson.
We arrived in Hudson about 3:30 in the
afternoon, and so did not have much time
to canvass. However, at the first home we
called the lady gave us an order for “Our
Day.” After passing a house or two, we
came to the home of the man in charge of the
water works for that district. He had just
gotten home, and, as his supper was on the
table, he had not a great deal of time to spend
with us. [fowever, after the canvass, he
offered to buy the book and asked us if we
wanted the money then or later. We took
one dollar deposit, and told him we would
get the other four dollars when the book was
delivered. It happened that. in the home
previous, the lady had told us it was of no use
to call on this man,
