Many, many thanks for the letters of consolation raceived regarding the death of our dear brother. It is still hard to realize that he’s gone forever, in this life. What would we do in hours of affliction if we did not believe in God and his promises for the hereafter. They are so precious. I am more concerned than ever to get to the world, the light for the Remnant people. I thought when I published the July Remnant, that it might be the last. Every bit of money was gone, The Postal Regulations allowed me one summer month off, so I did not publish an issue for August. In the meantime I received enough money for the September paper. Several have written me that they intend to help soon. It will all be gratefully received, I can assure you. Oklahoma City, Okla. May 27, 1924. Lucile Rupert Smith, Oklahoma City, Okla. Dear Sister in the Lord: Your kind letter of May 25 reczived. 1 am glad you are studying the subjects I mentioned to vou in my last letter. This is all so clear to me I wonder I never saw it before. When vou stop to think that not only the 10 Com- mands and the book of the Law were the basis of the old covenant but ecery word that was given from time to time when inquiry was made of the Lord what must be done under certain circumstances or when the Lord or his angel that accompanied them gave a message THE REMNANT OF ISRAEL concerning any duty. Take for example the command to encompass Jericho. This was not part of any of the book of the Law, only oral instruction but could the Israelites have retained their favor with God had thay refused to obey and contended that this special command was not part of the agreement or covenant? If the 10 commands and the book of the Law were all they were to obey they could have justly claim- ed exemption and said we did not agree to jeopardize our lives and we are not going. So we see that we are to live by every word of God—Jesus, Matt. 4:4. Now when a new covenant is made with the louse of Israel, they will Le under obligation to obey every order given by those in authority. The Tabernacle of God will be with men, visibly manifest and there can be no niistake in receiving orders. Many religious people work themselves into a frenzy of nervous excitement or are weak and delirious physically and get impres- sions while under these conditions and think the Lord has communicated to them. I believe when God de- sires a message given he appears or sends an angel and delivers it by word of mouth to sound-minded ser- vants of his. The Gospel of the kingdom is the “Good News” of the restoration of the kingdom of God as it existed formerly only more grand and elaborate. I get this from Ezekiel’'s visions God gave him for Israel. A resurrection is mentioned by him and “David my ser- vant shall be King over them.” Ezekiel 37:24. (David had been dead hundreds of years when this prophecy was given.) It is with these resurrected ones Jesus rules the 2carth and breaks in pieces the nations of earth. God’s kingdom is not in existence on earth now cxeept in the seed state “The children of God are the seed of the kingdom” Matt. 13:33. And the word of (God is the seed of the kingdom, Luke 8:11. I do hope the Remnant of Israel will give some light on the subject I mentioned before in regard to the Law and the prophets being the standard to try every doctrine by God has not changed his plan of salvation, only waiting for the Times of the Gentiles to be fullfilled”. We cannot keep the law perfectly under our pres- ent conditions and we should not undertake to carry out the rites and ceremonies of Israel but we can ad- mit they are right and just and emanating from an all wise God. We are living in a day of grace or favor when God 1s extending mercy and pardon—not imputing or charging to our acccunt tresspasses if we confess our sins and turn away from them, writing his law in our minds and hearts that we may know how to con- duet ourselves in his kingdom when it is established again. —ALBERT HODGES, Orlando, Florida.
