The Unseen Hand which had been
against her on the Bosphorus and the
Dardanelles was against her at Arthur
on the far-away Yellow Sea. Once
more the words of Holy Writ—I am
against thee O Gog, Chief Prince of
Russia, Moscow, and Tobolsk. I will
put hooks in thy jaws, and I will turn
thee back. And Russia was turned back.
Henceforth Port Arthur was impossible.
The Colossus of the North could only
turn her back upon the sea at that point
and begin all over again her old attempt
to get it on the Bosphorus,
The struggle for the sea has in the
past spelled but one word for Russia, i.e.,
RASPLATA—The RECKONING. Yet
Russia will not, she cannot desist in her
struggle. She is now hurled back on
Furope again with one only chance—the
historic harbor and strait of Constanti-

nople. By a seeming irony of fate the
outcome of her experiment on the Yel-
low Sea made this inevitable. And if
we read the prophecy aright, when Rus-
sia does at last gain the sea there will
come to her—her last and her greatest
RASPLATA. And not hers only, but
the Rasplata,—the Reckoning of every
nation, kindred, tongue, and people under
heaven. For of that event it is written:
“And at that time shall Michael stand
up, the great Prince which standeth for
the children of thy people: and there
shall be a time of trouble, such as never
was since there was a nation, even to
that same time: and at that time thy
people shall be delivered, every one that
shall be found written in the book. And
many of them that sleep in the dust of
the earth shall awake, some to everlast-
ing life, and some to shame and ever-
