Conference President Walter Blehm was speaker for the wor- ship hour, attended by many non-Adventist guests. Special music was brought during the Sabbath school and church ser- vice by the Septems, a group comprised largely of the Dr. Harland Holderby family. Art Davis sang several solos and the Holderby family pre- sented several instrumental numbers. Present at the opening, Evan- gelist Kenneth Lacey will be conducting a Revelation Sem- inar in the church starting in January. Yucaipa Beautification Participation Continues The Yucaipa Church con- tinues its participation in the Bicentennial Beautification pro- gram. Pastor Lee Lewis reports that Mr. and Mrs. Bert Van Tassell have provided two large evergreen trees in cedar con- tainers for the church patio. Staff and Board Mee at Orangewood Dinner Teachers, administrators, and board members of Orangewood Academy and Elementary School in Garden Grove at- tended the annual Staff-Board Banquet held at the Anaheim Church Fellowship Hall, Octo- ber 10. Mike Fellows, Director of Public Relations for It Is Writ- ten, spoke on the television me- dia. His topic was “The Im- portance and Effectiveness of Television.” This event signals the start of a new school year and pro- vides opportunity for open com- munications between faculty and staff. Those officiating were Millie Wolford, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; A. Norton Donaldson, Vice-chairman and co-fourder of Orangewood; Academy Principal Robert Hamilton, and Elementary Principal Wallace Slattery. Dirksens Give La Mesa Program Elder Dan E. Dirksen and his son Dan Jr. presented the Faith for Today sponsored “Sabbath Inspiration’ program in the La Mesa church on October 16. It was the first program for the father-son team. The San Diego area is where Dan Jr. was born and became interested in the organ and where Elder Dirksen served for 14 years in pastoral evangelism. The Sabbath program con- sisted of the 11 a.m. sermon and Dan, Jr.'s. varied organ concert including hymn re- quests at the pre-sunset hour.
