Abstract
  • There are 3 parts to this collection. Part 1: 1905-1906 or so. Begins with newspaper coverage of the 1905 GC Session in Takoma Park, Maryland. The bulk appears to be related to Adventist happenings in Battle Creek during the 1905 to 1906 time period including quite a few clippings which tend to be critical of the Adventists. It includes some about Waggoner and Jones, Kellogg, and a mass "disfellowshipping" of 700 people from the Tabernacle membership rolls. Part 2 is largely all from 1940 and includes Battle Creek happenings generally associated with the Sanitarium and Dr. Kellogg plus prominent people, Adventist and otherwise, in Battle Creek. Part 3 is clippings from various newspapers pertaining to the Battle Creek Sanitarium and John H. Kellogg for 1940 to 1944. Part of the Sanitarium coverage includes the change of ownership when the U. S. Army purchased the property.
