Don Ammon is retired president and CEO of Adventist Health System/West. He began his healthcare career in the personnel department of Hinsdale Hospital, a 400-bed Adventist hospital in suburban Chicago. Three years later, he became assistant administrator at Adventist Medical Center in Portland, the system's flagship hospital in the Northwest. Ammon became chief executive officer in 1976 and president in 1982, when he moved to Roseville to open the corporate offices of a then newly-merged Adventist operation, which took the name Adventist Health System/West.
